A Sustainable Future

Campaign for Healthy Balanced Meals…

In May 2007, funds from one of our supporting schools enabled us to build a large kitchen/dining room. This formed the basis of our hygienic food preparation and we began our campaign to provide healthy, balanced meals for the children.

Farming & Self Sustainability…

In September 2007, with the basic infrastructure now in place, our attention turned towards land and our quest for self sustainability. A UK charity provided funds which paid for us to take on a local rural development organisation assisting us in setting up the basics of a working farm. We now have our own farm manager and in 2013, the farm is providing just short of half of the kitchen’s needs, with the intent that one day soon, we will be fully self-sufficient.

Year Round Water for Kais Village Community…

In August 2008, in order to secure a year round water supply at Kais Village Community, we built rainwater harvesters, renovated wells and laid new piping. This project was led by a specialist with support from a local organisation and funding from a partner school.
